“ We've eaten here numerous times and have never been disappointed, quick service, great food & coffees, lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. The toasties are our personal favourites. The last time we came with our dog so we sat outside, the staff were really attentive with coming out and making sure we had the heaters etc on. If we're wanting a little pick me up we say ' shall we go for a dark horse' . Very lucky to have this so close to our home, keep up the good work! ”
“ **A Delightful Spot in South Bank** We had an absolutely wonderful time at the Dark Horse Cafe. The toasted sandwich and fries were simply delightful, paired perfectly with their delicious coffee. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, making it a great spot for a casual meal or a quick coffee break. We live just across the road and, although we're always mindful of our weight, it's hard to resist the tempting treats on offer. They do have some healthy options, but honestly, we can't help but indulge in the good stuff! Highly recommended for anyone in the area looking for a charming cafe experience. ”
“ We had a great lunch experience here today. The food was great, the service was great and we met up with some old friends which made it perfect. The pricing was so good that we feel like we owe them. Sadly we didn’t get a photo. We can’t wait to come back. ”
“ Best coffee since we’ve been in Europe. As Aussies visiting Ireland,Scotland and York,we’ve really had a fabulous time but we have missed decent coffee so how excited we were to find this little cafe. They even serve Vegemite on toast! We absolutely loved the coffee so much that we’ve ordered takeaways as well. Any aussies visiting York seek this place out for a little taste of home and you won’t be disappointed. Oh and the staff are ultra friendly ”
“ Amazing Food and Great service! An awesome little team who really looked after us today. The manager and service staff in particular offered impeccable service. ”
“ I live locally and have visited many times since Dark Horse opened; for brunches and for comedy. Food and drink has been perfect every time and I love the atmosphere. An outdoor seat when the sun is shining is lovely. Dark Horse is my mum’s favourite of the cafes along Bishy Road. She’s from out of the area and asks to visit each time she’s over (she also loves the clothes shop next door). My partner recently interviewed for a new job (non-Dark Horse related) and the interviewer asked for a good cafe near our house where they could meet. My partner chose Dark Horse, and he said it worked really well as a place to meet informally (and he got the job!). A great addition to our local area ”
“ Happy New Year! I’m a regular here and I have always had a lovely relaxing time. I’ve brought pretty much everyone who comes to visit me here too and they have all specifically said how much they enjoyed it and how lucky we are to live so close. Staff have been friendly and accommodating when it’s busy, in particular when I brought my parents and aunt and uncle for coffee over Christmas they scooted a few stools over at the window bar so we could sit down right away, and they enjoyed it so much they went back again without me! (And my Mother is very difficult to please. I cannot stress that enough... It’s been... Christmas is a lot.) The food is delicious and generous portions, the coffee is incredible and the outside area is lovely with big umbrellas so you survive any inclement weather with your toastie intact. ”
“ Amazing place for coffee and food, the croque monsieur special was really tasty and hopefully will become a permanent feature on the menu. Hopefully due to the location some bike racks outside would be really beneficial . ”
